True Tears - Short Hair Conquers ALL!

Epic Visual Sets Are Epic

I found this show to be a kick back and set to cruise control kind of show. The premise according to ANN goes something like this:

Shinichiro is a student living in what would be a dream come true for most high school boys, but for him is mostly a frustration. A well liked girl in school named Hiromi has lived in his house for a year along with his family. Her father was a close friend of the family, and when he died they immediately took her in. She is popular and well liked, always smiles, is talented in sports- but Shinichiro knows there must be tears inside her. Having an artistic tendency, he makes watercolours of her and thinks about wishing to ease her tears. Yet he cannot bring up the nerve to talk to her even in his own home. She, too, is quiet and withdrawn in their house, quite unlike at school. Shinichiro is also distracted by teasing from his friend Nobuse for watching Hiromi from afar, a curse of bad luck from a strange girl named Noe, and being forced to perform Muhiga dancing. By helping Noe he hopes to ease his own problems, yet he seems to have difficulty helping himself.

I’m trying to avoid a genre bias this year. This show is a romance and while the first episode had nothing to dramatic in it, it was a good introductory episode.

The Content

The quality of the show is fairly high and I found the animation style quite pleasing. The voices were what I found really appealing though. Instead of the guys having voices that ‘matched’ their personalities they had voices that sounded.. normal.

In a lot of shows you’ll find that the voices are exaggerated to emphasize the personality. I found in this case the voices sounded closer to some random teen dude you’d hear in the street. (For the guys of course.) The girls were good too and I didn’t hear any voice that bugged me.

Misc Points

I have a thing for girls with shorter hair. I don’t know quite what it is.. but they seem more exciting and .. more alive. Personally i’d like all girls to have shorter hair in animu.. but of course there are the fans of characters such as Shana(Shakugan no Shana), Mizuho(Otoboku) and Tomoyo(CLANNAD).

I also found it amusing when Shinichiro smirked and left his friend with Aiko. Not quite sure why.. but I just found it funny.

All up I enjoyed the first episode and i’ll keep watching this show. Also.. I wrote this post REALLY LATE AT NIGHT.

New Year! Time for Anime!

So the new year is here! YAY! Time goes by so fast. So what’s new for me in 2008? Well one thing is my regained ability to watch anime. I’m actually doing it in a orderly fashion too. At the moment i’m finishing off the series I have. I’m doing this as my bandwidth allows.

I’m not committing to some sort of routine post schedule but i’d like to think i’ll be more active. /* Obligatory blogger lament. */ This year is going to be full of grand exciting things. I’m going to Australia in April for two weeks. I’m hopefully about to change my employment. ALSO! I’m thinking I might actually SAVE money this year =O!

It’s all very unbelievable I know.

Now onto more relevant news. I’m not sure if you know but i’m the owner/creator/slave of himegimi.mellowspace.com. It’s nothing really now. But my plans are huge. I now know what I need and so i’ll be spending a large portion of this year creating and sculpting v2.0 of Himegimi into life. I also have the Armageddon Pulp Expo to attend. I’m hoping to complete two other sites that are related to Japanese culture this year also.

So with that out of the way, I hope your 2007 was good and now let us look forward to 2008!
