Kannagi - 03
Jin, Tsugumi & the Art Club members have to organize a haunted storage house, upon learning this Nagi makes an appearance at school.
Back at home, Jin has to start attending to school again and Nagi doesn’t like the idea of being locked up all day long watching TV but she smiles when she realizes in this time and age children are only required to go to school. In the art club’s room Jin puts some pink to his canvas, Takako and Shino criticize him saying the harmony is all messed up now and that he’s not up to oil painting yet but the reason he’s doing it is because he looks up to Daitetsu, who asks Jin about the wood carving then after hearing Jin’s excuse he gives him a book about cats and yells about how cute it is. Bothered by the noise Akiba complaints and tells them to shut up and because of the noise he lost his focus line in the manga he was working on, Shino and Takako quickly lay out some constructive criticism on his work yet again pissing him off.
In a dialogue between Shino and Takako they discuss the overall members of the art club: a hulk of an artist (Daitetsu), a too-pure-pure boy (Jin), and a self-conscious Akiba-freak (Akiba). Takako relates them with an RPG party and says they’d be ready to take on a boss. Shina asks her who’d she prefer and surprisingly she admits she’d choose Too-pure-pure boy, Jin praises Akiba and Daitetsu for making real works of art while he can’t do anything but that one day he’ll surpass them. This provokes Takako to nosebleed all over, Shino suggests it’s about time for the boss fight to start.
Takako and Shino group all the boys from the club and tell them to tidy the storehouse, an old building for hobby groups, since it’s basement is used as storage space for the arts club and it’s been deserted for years she’d like to clean it up before she steps down. Akiba knows which building it is and it’s legend about being haunted, he teases Jin and says something amazing happens if you tell him ghost stories. Jin, being scared of ghosts says he never had any fun in the field trips to temples, Daitetsu asks Jin a (supposedly) silly question and it’s if a ghost can go through a netted door (Obviously yes.. or no?).
The male members head inside the storage house, with Tsugumi tagging along. She recalls a story that a senpai told her, A long time ago a student fell down a ladder and onto a pole bellow leaving him impaled and alone he cried for help and no one came, suddenly the floor hatch was hit from bellow and everyone ran off scared.
The next day at school Akiba punches Jin in the face saying why is he not satisfied with his childhood friend. It’s Nagi, she’s at school being escorted around with a bunch of guys, using her polite speech and wearing a school uniform. She runs and tries to hug Jin but he avoids it causing misunderstandings, she says she heard from Tsugumi that there’s trouble concerning ghosts. She decides to go to the storage house to check things out, inside she feels the presence of a impurity, once she opens the floor hatch an old man comes out, it’s the art club advisor that was trapped there by accident. Nagi kneecaps Jin and runs away embarrassed thinking maybe her senses are failing then she spots a catholic church she didn’t notice before and goes in, inside there is girl wearing nun clothing and holding an impurity in her hand. Nagi becomes rattled and asks her what’s she doing there, she calmly replies “It’s been a long time Nee-sama”.
