Kannagi - 04

We see Zange, Nagi’s sister, reveal her character and play her cards for her plan to take over Jin.

At the beginning of the episode we see Zange introduce herself holding a “100 yen for a confession” sign in the streets. Nagi is mad because her sacred tree previously located in the shrine grounds got uprooted, she explains to Jin that without the tree her powers will gradually diminish and her body would disintegrate therefore in order for her to not disappear she suggests a replacement for her object of worship, in this case she’d like to be the object herself, like an idol. At school Jin is lost in though about the idol issue, Takako & Shino suggest he asks Akiba about it but after his ridiculously long speech the only piece of information he gives that Zange-chan is the most popular idol and she cosplays as a nun. Suddenly one of the art club members say they’ve run out of gesso, Jin volunteers to buy some. On the way back home Jin spots a girl being troubled by some delinquents in a nearby alley, he accidentally drops one of the cans of gesso he’s carrying and draws their attention, one of the guys tries to punch him but he quickly avoids the fist and smacks him in the face with the Gesso bag. He and Zange run away and reach the underside of a bridge.

Zange tells Jin the reason she does the confessions is because he wants to be recognized by other people, or maybe it’s just that she wants to be an idol. As a way to say thanks Zange offers Jin a free confession, as Jin is about to confess something regarding Tsugumi he stops and says that maybe it’s best for him to tell her personally. As they’re saying goodbye to each other Zange notices that Jin has a little cut on his cheek, worried that it might get infected she licks it, Jin goes in shock. Back at home Jin sees a Zange ad on TV, Nagi tells Jin Zange is her younger sister. Meanwhile in the catholic church Zange is sitting and talking to herself about a plan on how to get Jin, she calls herself Hakua.

Nagi is convinced Zange is up to no good, but Jin thinks otherwise. The next day Nagi wants to know what Zange used as a vessel to materialize herself, she visits the church and sees Zange’s sacred tree is intact, so she arrives to a single conclusion. She and Jin look for her around town with no luck. Nagi borrows a school uniform from Tsugumi again and decides to check the school. She finds Zange at the school wearing an uniform as any proper student, Zange asks one of her friends to hold a notebook for her, however her friend calls her Hakua. Zange leads Nagi into a sports storage room and threatens her with an impurity, since Nagi can be easily tainted by these, and Zange isn’t affected. After she makes fun of how weak Nagi is on her present state, she reveals she took a human body as her vessel, a girl named Hakua. Nagi tells her that puts a lot of strain on the girl’s body, however Zange says they both agreed to it. At this moment Jin opens the door holding some hula hoops on his waist, he enters a shocked state once again.

That night while Jin & Nagi are having dinner, Tsugumi comes over and complaints about how their diet consist on only snacks, she offers her assistance to cook their meals however the only two things she knows to cook are Fried eggs and vegetables. Suddenly someone knocks on the door, Jin goes to get it to realize it’s Zange. She says she’d like to stay at Jin’s house to take care of him.
